Twenty One Pilots displayed an electric performance during their show at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California this past Saturday. The concert was a part of their Icy tour, promoting their latest album Scaled And Icy. Although the band still consists of two main members, lead singer Tyler Joseph and drummer Josh Dun, the expansion of a touring band was a delicate choice that the duo executed perfectly. The accompanying band made the event even more entertaining while not overshadowing the original members.
The unsaid trust between Joseph and his fans was thrilling. Not only was the crowd able to accomplish surfing a ukulele across the venue on a mattress, but the singer himself made it safely across as well. The confidence that Tyler and Josh both invest in their fans is unlike most other bands, and the possibility of other bands being able to pull off these same crowd involvement tactics successfully is unlikely. Twenty One Pilots has a special relationship that they’ve built with their fans from day one.
One fan explained that the reason they believe the band has such a committed following is that you can tell they care, especially about their live performance and production, just as much as the fans do. Their commitment to making shows a wonderful experience is one of the ways that they give back to their fans, and it doesn’t go unnoticed.
Between the music itself, and the production as a whole, this band is easily one of the most captivating acts to see live today. Combining this with the dedication of their fans makes for a wonderful show environment. Twenty One Pilots will be on the Icy tour through the end of September.
