On February 5th, 2022 I had the wonderful experience of seeing Being As An Ocean live in San Antonio, Texas.
When I was a teenager I listed to the experimental rock band and grew to love the idea of spoken word within music.
Being As An Ocean was founded in 2011 and are from Alpine, California. Current members include: Joel Quaruccio (vocals), and Michael Ross (guitar). Being As An Ocean currently is touring to celebrate the anniversary of their album, Dear God which turned 10 years old in 2022. The group tour lineup consists of fan favorites such as Limbs and Capstan. On this weekend, the venue was filled to the brim with fans anxious to hear live music again, some of us for the first time since the pandemic began. As Being As An Ocean took the stage, fans cheered and sang the lyrics at the top of their lungs. The band engaged with the crowd and took great care of us during the show. They played tons of songs during their set, but some of my favorites included: l'exqusite doleur, this loneliness wont be the death of me and of course, Dear G-D. I enjoyed my time at this show and appreciated the energy the band had. I havent seen this band for a few years since a close friend of mine died, and being here at this show provided me with great memories of our time spent with him. Being As An Ocean are an amazing band who care for their fans and always put on an amazing show.
